Components
In computer technology, a software or hardware upgrade replaces an older version with a more recent version with additional features or functions. Upgrades are typically made to make the system faster and more reliable or capable of handling greater amounts of data. Hardware upgrades may include storage devices like hard disk drives, processors, and motherboards. Computer upgrades must always be compatible with the specifications of the computer being upgraded.
In Guild Wars 2, upgrade items are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor and trinkets to give an attribute bonus or another effect when the equipment is used. To accept a component, an item must have an open upgrade slot and be above or equal to a specified level.
Components are available for purchase from vendors in Night City, obtained by disassembling items that aren't working, or found randomly in the world. Components can be purchased from vendors, even when the item isn't appropriate for the level.
Various types of components exist that have universal upgrades (such as gemstones) that can be used in any equipment, and granting smaller bonuses than those that are type-restricted. Jewels can only be used in trinkets. They also offer greater bonus than any other upgrade.
There are also inscriptions which are unique upgrade items that can only be placed in a trinket. They can be used to add an experience multiplier. These are ideal for maximizing your character's abilities, since they're fairly inexpensive to purchase but they're not able to be combined with other experience modifiers.
Infusions are another kind of upgrade item that can be added to non-ascended and legendary armor, in addition to some non-legendary back items. They can be recovered using the tool for extraction of infusions or salvaging them using the Ascended Rescue Tool. One thing to remember is that upgrading an item using infusions will cause the item to be given a unique name. As an example for example, if you put an Inscribed Rune of Minor Vigor on a Tyrian Armor, it will display the name "Radiant Tyrian Armor." In the hover display the inscription will be displayed as an Inscribed weapon.
Glyphs
Glyphs are items that enhance a specific substat of a piece of gear. You can find them in a variety of places, however the most popular is through finishing Nightmare Dungeons or Helltides. You can also get them by visiting the Faction Crypts. The Glyphs found in crypts are class-specific, so ensure that you only claim the ones that apply to your character. Once you have a lot of Glyphs you can head to the Glyph Altar located in the middle of Teleria to spend the Glyphs. This altar will increase the value of your magical items by a certain amount, according to the Glyph you use.
Glyphs can be a great method to upgrade your gear, however they can be a challenge to acquire and use. Rerolling
Rerolling involves replacing an upgrade item by an identical item. This process alters the item's extra stats but doesn't affect its level or attachment slot. The price of the item will be determined by its rarity and level. This can be done for rings, armors, weapons and other items.
Upgrade items are the accessories used to boost the effectiveness of units in Guild Wars 2. They are available in a variety of styles, and can improve several different characteristics. The upgrades boost the physical power, spell power, and health of weapons, armors and rings. They also add a range of other capabilities to the unit. The player can utilize a specific item by placing it on the unit's portrait.
Players can improve their upgrade items by recycling them, which will fill up a progress bar and increase the value of the upgrade. Recycling up to six items at a time is possible, and the points earned from recycling increase with the rarity and level of the item. The upgrade is random and cannot be confirmed.
Rerolling or not is dependent on the player's preference. Some players reroll so that they have a strong set of characters that will carry through the game. Others may choose to not reroll as they prefer to play with their favourite character, no regardless of how powerful.

Sets

Upgrade items can be beneficial, however their effects may not be the most beneficial. For instance, a top dps breakpoint item may not benefit as much from being upgraded in the event that there's a perfect or near perfect non-upgraded version of the same item (whistan's shield for FB sorcs comes into mind). A unique affix may be a useful characteristic of an item and could be useful in its original shape.
